Christy Freeman
is a wife, a mom, and a songwriter/worship leader. Her love of life and for the Lord is evident in her lyrics as well as her passion for song leading. She prays that His joy and love will touch you and shine through her music straight to you!
From a young age, Christy had a love of music. She began playing violin at age 3, under the loving instruction of her mom; she excelled in both solo work and orchestral ensembles all the way through college. Growing up in a Christ-filled home, her family was the core of her faith development and also helped grow her love of music. The rooms of her house were always filled with music from the many instruments played by Christy, her brother, sister, mom and dad.
She also always loved singing in school and church both solo and chorally, but really connected with the worship scene in college. There, she played violin and sang in the main worship band for 2 years. Songwriting came naturally once she learned guitar as a Bible camp counselor. All the prayers and journals she had so carefully committed to through her early 20's, began pouring into lyrics, and then into songs. She also began leading contemporary worship at her church once moving back to central Minnesota with her husband. The Lord started growing her in that place, and from there, gave her the direction to begin her own music ministry.
Christy participated in a local "Opening Act Competition" in 2009 and was named 1st runner-up. She was able to open for the Christian band, Kutless. She just completed her first recording project with Joyful Noise Ministries in Monticello, MN, and just had her first CD release concert in December 2012!
Christy’s music and worship style has been known to connect especially with women and teenage girls, but also engages the whole family and church. She loves sharing her original songs, but has a heart for leading worship songs that are sure to reach many in the name of Christ.
Christy's favorite part of life is her family: husband, son (4 years old) daughter (2 years old).
